Destigmatizing Mental Health (1 to 3+ hours/up to 30 participants)

In this workshop we reflect on our attitudes and beliefs about mental health with the hope of raising our awareness and understanding of people living with mental health concerns. Specifically, mood and anxiety disorders are examined, including a review of supportive resources and coping strategies. Basic tools are provided to empower anyone to be a “mental health first responder”.

Bystander Intervention (1 to 3+ hours/up to 30 participants)

The focus of this workshop is to recognize the power of bystanders in reducing harassment, discrimination and violence in the workplace, as well as in our communities. With a look at our own beliefs and attitudes, common barriers to intervening as a bystander are discussed and effective bystander intervention strategies are presented. Skill development focuses on exploring different types of bystander intervention responses in different types of situations. An emphasis is made on self-care and self-compassion strategies aimed to assist any bystander.

Suicide Risk and Assessment (1 to 3+ hours/up to 30 participants)

In this workshop we learn basic skills to recognize and respond to someone who is thinking about suicide. We discuss our attitudes and beliefs about suicide and how they impact our ability to help a suicidal person. Specific warning signs that someone is contemplating suicide are reviewed and a straight-forward way to assess for risk is discussed. Strategies to support someone through a suicidal crisis are offered, including resources and safety planning.

Self-Injury Risk and Assessment (1- 3+ hours/up to 30 participants)

In this workshop we differentiate suicide from self-injury, and learn to respond to someone engaging in self-injurious harm.
